Whereas fiddling with jets and stuff on a 12k bike might be an expensive miskake hahaha. So i just wanna learn some mechanical stuff from this bike, cos if I screw up it won't be such a big deal. So im gonna just ride this 144 into the ground and buy that when I'm 18. I was gonna buy a husky te250 but they wouldn't do finance for me as I'm under 18. The only thing is I don't wanna spend a pile of cash on it. Maybe I should buy the gaskets so i can pull the top end apart and check it all out ey. Would it be worthwhile pulling the top end apart and making sure its all good? I've never done it for this bike, and I'm sure the owner before me wouldn't have (he told us he either runs 100:1 or 10:1) hahaha.

I wouldn't even bother trying to tune it until the head has been setup. What would you suggest I order in terms of jets and all that, should I change the slide too? Haha I'm pretty clueless so it's cool to have someone willing to give me a hand. When it ran, the plugs were always black and gummy and it blew a decent amount of smoke. The bike ran good (figured out my coil is stuffed so I gotta fix that) but I wanna order some jets and stuff at the same time so it'll all be ready. So I really have no clue what size jets and needles and stuff I should order. The symbol in front of the 35 (that you think is 61) may well be the square inside a square that mikuni use to id genuine jets.ĭon't worry about asking questions mate.no one is forced to answer them. FYI You should be able to access both these jets through the drain bolt. The pilot jet has a straight cut screwdriver slot and is located directly in front (engine side) of the main jet. The main jet and pilot jet are both in the float chamber. So will that cafe husky thing have the standard float heights and jets and stuff? And I'm in Victoria around Mt Evelyn. Yeah it has the mikuni carb, NGK br9eg plug, the engine seems to run ok, maybe lacking a bit in the power department haha but maybe I'm just getting used to it, but I'm planning and replacing piston and rings and what not soon enough. Haha it's always a pain to help out the kid with barely any idea of what's goin on. You'll soon feel what changes are right and which ones are not.īe aware, particularly with these bikes, that each engine will require slightly different setting. Take your time, make small changes and only change one thing at a time, test riding between after each one.

The original carb was a Mikuni TMX, but a common swap was to fit a Keihin PWK or Lectron. How does the engine run? What spark plug are you using - brand and designation?
